Longarm Firearm Safety Course - Category A and B
Recreational Firearm Safety Training for Victorian Licence Applicants
Knights College offers accredited training for individuals seeking a Category A & B Firearm Licence in Victoria. This course meets the requirements set by the Victorian Firearms Authority and must be completed before submitting your firearm licence application.
Course Overview
Completion of this course is a mandatory step before applying for a Category A or B firearm licence in Victoria. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion, which must be submitted with your application to Victoria Police.
This course is required even if you:
- Previously held a firearm licence in Victoria or another state
- Had a licence that was cancelled
- Let your licence expire more than 12 months ago
Eligibility Criteria
Adults (18+ years)
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident residing in Victoria
- Must not be a prohibited person under Victorian law
- Must demonstrate a genuine reason for needing a firearm licence
- Must complete this firearm safety course
Adults (18+ years)
- Eligible to apply for a Junior Firearm Licence in Victoria
- Must always be supervised by a fully licensed adult (for the same firearm category)
